 IMPORTANT DATES AND EVENTS

 

Our third annual Ministry Fair is happening this Sunday, June 1, during and after the 10:30 AM service.

Family Promise is a gift we are giving homeless families June 1-8

Our choir is forming the nucleus of a 189-voice mass choir singing Wednesday, June 4, at 7 PM, at the Tuscany Casino and Hotel during worship for the Grand Canyon Synod

       Assembly, and that service is open to all to attend.

A special concert benefiting Family Promise and Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, also at the assembly, will be given on Thursday, June 5, at 7:45 PM. Bruce Ewing and other top Strip entertainers will give this performance.

Sunday, June 8, 10:30 AM—recognition of graduates

On Sunday, June 8, “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor DreamCoat” will be presented that evening at 7:00 by the high school choir from St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Bloomington, Minnesota. We’ll feed them first at a potluck at 6:00.

A Karaoke Singing Night on Friday, June 20, 6:00-9:30, will kick off a drive to raise our July mortgage payment of $10,117. A committee of people are planning this event, and they even have a DJ booked for the night.

Vacation Bible School will run Sunday through Thursday, June 22-26.

 

 

 

 

Dear friends in Christ,

You may have already heard, but June is full of good and promising gifts, and I am so thankful for everyone who is working hard to bring these into being. These events are listed in the box to the left.

 

In addition to these events, there is also a committee studying the possibilities of adding a new building and expanding our ministry to include independent living or assisted living for older adults. The committee is also looking into pre-school and daycare ministry within our existing building as well as the new building. Those who attended the special congregational meeting heard about these exciting possibilities. If a needs analysis shows that our area could be well served by this addition, you will be hearing much more about this.

 

Our synod assembly is fast approaching—June 4, 1 PM, through June 6, 2 PM. 106 congregations from Arizona, southern Nevada, and St. George, Utah, will gather to worship, conduct synod business, and gather as the church to review the ministry we have done together. Many of our members are helping in some way.

Our congregation is sending three lay voting members (Dorell Koon, Carole Larkins, and Amy Potts) and two clergy. Members of our church who are serving on the synod council (Karlie Hill and Mark Myers) will also be seated as voting members. We appreciate their dedication of time and love.

 One important element of the assembly will be the opening worship, Wednesday evening, June 4th, at 7:00. Along with our choir, there are other members of our congregation serving as readers, ushers, acolytes,
